Conservatories come in a variety of styles, each with its own unique features and benefits. Some of the most popular types include:

  1. Lean-to Conservatory: A simple design with a single-pitched roof, often chosen for its practicality. It’s ideal for homes with limited space.
  1. Victorian Conservatory: Recognised by its bay front and steeply pitched roof, this style exudes elegance with ornate detailing and is typically circular or semi-circular in shape.
  1. Edwardian Conservatory: Similar to the Victorian style but with a rectangular or square footprint. It offers a spacious feel with its flat front and symmetrical shape.
  1. Conservatory with Tiled Roof: A modern twist on traditional conservatories, offering better insulation and a homely feel, making it usable all year round.
  1. Conservatory Extension: A blend of a traditional extension and a conservatory, providing extra living space with the benefit of natural light.
  1. Traditional Conservatory: A timeless design that incorporates elements from various conservatory styles, making it suitable for a wide range of homes.
  1. Classic Conservatory: Evokes a sense of nostalgia, often with simpler lines and minimalistic detailing, perfect for those seeking a vintage touch.

Each type can be tailored to fit the specific requirements and aesthetics of your home, ensuring you get a space that’s both functional and beautiful.

In the UK, most conservatories do not require planning permission, as they are typically considered “permitted development.” However, there are specific criteria and size limits which, if exceeded, will necessitate obtaining permission. Factors include the conservatory’s size in relation to the house, its height, and its proximity to the property boundary, among others.

Always ensure you’re within guidelines, as failing to secure necessary permissions can lead to legal complications.
